How to Get the Most Out of your Apple Devices

Apple devices are very popular. People love their Apple gadgets. They would not be without them, but they are not cheap so it is important to make sure that you get the most out of them. This post will help you do just that.

If it is broken get it repaired

Our first tip is not to throw away your old Apple gadgets or consign them to a drawer when they break. Instead, get it repaired. This is easy to do by sending it to a local store – e.g. the Apple store in Weston if you are in nearby neighborhood. They take items from across the US and repair them for a low price. You can find similar services in many other countries just by doing a simple online search.

Repurpose it

Once your device is working properly you can put it to a new use. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Music players and Ereaders

Old Macbooks, iPods, iPads and iPhones make great music players. You can safely leave an old iPod in the car or in your gym bag whereas doing that with a newer smartphone is not wise because it is too tempting a target for thieves.

An old Macbook makes a cool looking media centre. All you need to do is to invest in a couple of good quality speakers.

Video and entertainment centres

These gadgets also work really well for video. Even an old iPod can be turned into a tiny TV. Again, there are guides online that will show you how to do this.

Surveillance gadgets

Old iPhones make fantastic baby monitors. They can also be turned into sophisticated surveillance cameras. You can even add a motion sensor and set it up to video the action, so you can view it online or when you get home.

Clocks and digital photo frames

You can also turn these devices into cool looking clocks. There are some fantastic apps out there that have been written for exactly that purpose. You can turn them into mantel clocks or alarm clocks. Old iPhones also make great digital photo frames. They can also be used as universal remote controls.

If you run out of things to do with your old Apple gadgets there is still no need to bin them. They sell really well. Some of the older devices, like the iPod, are once again becoming sought after, which means you can make quite a bit of money if you have one that is in good condition.

Another great option is to give your old devices away. Friends and relatives will usually welcome the chance to try an iPhone even if it is an old one. Charities also welcome old tech.

If you are going to sell or give away, your old gadgets remember to remove any sensitive data you have stored on them. You just need to use a technique that is designed to work with Apple devices. There is a good guide here.
