What Is the Best Van on the Road Right Now?

Whether you’re shopping for a small van to make deliveries around the city or a large cargo van to move heavy goods, there are a multitude of different options available to you now. While narrowing down all of these choices can be challenging, making the right choice is important.

Here are the three of the best vans available right now, whatever your needs for your business.

Renault Kangoo

The Renault Kangoo is a compact van that’s become one of the most popular vehicles in its class range lately. The 1.5 dCi diesel engine comes in three different models, a 75 bhp and 90 bhp, which are both fitted with a five-speed manual transmission, or a 110 bhp Sport model that comes with a six-speed box. It actually shares much of its design with the also highly-regarded Mercedes-Benz Citan. Not only is the Kangoo a much cheaper alternative, though, it also has additional features that’s it’s pricier counterpart can’t match. With a fuel economy of 67.3 mpg, it’s the best in its class.

Ford Transit Custom

The Ford Transit Custom is a mid-sized van that started life as an alternate body type to the regular Transit model. Due to its popularity amongst customers, though, it’s since become its own distinct model. In fact, in its first full year of sales, the Custom became the UK’s best selling vehicle in its class.

While the payload is limited to just under 1.5 tons, there are numerous options available across the rest of the specifications that make this the best all-rounder. It’s also the first van to ever earn a five-star safety ranking from the Euro NCAP.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

Finally, the Mercedes-Benz sprinter is our number one choice for those looking for the maximum storage capacity. The payload tops out at just over 2.5 tons, while the gross vehicle mass ranges from 3 to 5 tons across all model types. The 2.2-liter four-cylinder delivers everything from a modest 95 bhp up to 163 bhp, while the option of the 3.0-liter V6 CDI diesel gives you access to one of the most powerful engines on the market with 190 bhp offering 35 mpg. Since some of the extras can bump up the price, look into alternative ways of financing the vehicle like this to make sure you get everything you need.

The commercial vehicle industry isn’t standing still. Manufacturers are all trying to one-up each other and the customers are seeing the benefit of this competition.  With that said, be sure that you learn more about the vans – read reviews, ask fellow business owners and consult with your trusted dealers. Shop around – take your time, and don’t rush things.
